Minimalist Collection

I don't have as much makeup as other bloggers, but I'm quite happy with my collection. I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, nor do I want to. I've bought everything I've ever felt a need for, be it concealer, bronzer or gel eyeliner. From not owning a single foundation or eyeliner a few months ago, I've come a long way. I honestly don't think I'll be needing to buy anything for a long time.

After being inspired by MissGlamorazzi, Vivianna and now Michelle, I don't feel like I want to own rooms of makeup like some people do. I don't feel like my collection is lacking, no matter what my wishlist says. I don't even wear foundation and mascara everyday, let alone eyeshadow, eyeliner and bronzer. There's no need for it if your skin's taken care of. With that, I'm going to stop buying makeup henceforth, until Christmas, and appreciate the products I already own. There. DEADLINE-D. It's a resolution.
(Ahem. Resolution excludes skincare.)

I used to store my makeup on top of my dresser, but everything was getting dusty so I did a bit of a spring clean and tossed out all the packaging and boxes I used to hoard in the top drawer. So my makeup has moved, and now lives in my top drawer. I have basically filled the drawer. I think I might borrow Vivianna's one-in-one-out policy and not buy any more powders/foundations/eyeshadows until I have finished a product that I can swap it in for. But I've got 4 backup Bourjois blushes, so I just cannot buy any more blushes.

I'm happy with my collection, and storage, and I really shouldn't buy things just because they're cheap. I'm going to consciously make an effort to refrain from buying makeup until Christmas. Gah.

Oh, I have to add: come Christmas, I'm probably going to go nuts and order the Naked 2 palette, Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme and Laura Mercier Mineral Powder. And the buying ban isn't going to halt any posts, because I ordered a tonne of things over the past couple of weeks, so the parcels are due to arrive any day. Posts about those forthcoming!

Anyhow, take care and God bless! xx

  1. It's so nice to see a blogger with a collection that's a similar size to mine! All my makeup fits neatly in a medium sized train case from Walmart. I live in a small apartment and simply don't have the space to store tons of products. I also don't like wasting anything. Everything I have I try to use up, and if I don't like it, I'll either return it or give it away to someone who can get some use out of it.

I still can't bring myself to completely ban myself from buying products though -- if I see something new that I really want and I can afford it, I just have to have it! :)

    1. I've half-heartedly declared buying bans in the past, but always caved when I saw something cheap or when I just felt like buying something. I'm going to try to stick to this one! x

  2. Can't believe you only starting collecting/buying makeup a few months ago - that's quite a big stash for such a short time! lol You guys are seriously motivating me to go on a makeup diet as well. But the temptation of new collections and cheap sales always get me too good sigh. I still want to stock up on some of the items i'm running out of first before i do this challenge XD Not buying until Christmas is a really REALLY long time! :O Good luck!!

    1. I've already stocked up on things! They're expected to arrive in the next couple of weeks! Naughty. :) Christmas feels like ages and ages away- I'll probably treat myself to a Beauty Bay spree (UD Naked palettes, Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme...) then. But for now I'm going to try to stick to this buying ban! xx

  3. Nice collection! Not too big not too small :)
I don't understand the point of having a massive collection when you don't use half of it!

  4. My collection is smaller than yours, and I totally agree that there is really no need to own hundred of makeup. I also don't wear makeup everyday, as I like to let it breathe every once in a while, I love this post!! Xx

  5. Ooh! YAY, we can go on this makeup ban together. xD You're way hardcore though - I don't think I could make it to Christmas. :P You have as many Bourjois blushes as me now, they're great! (And were so cheap at Target recently). We can do this! :) xx

    1. I was feeling inspired after reading your post! Culminating from watching Ingrid's and Vivianna's reasonable makeup collections, this buying ban is long overdue. I think Christmas is okay, because I have enough makeup to last me until then. :) Yay let's do this spending ban together! :D xx

  6. You have about 1/10th of what I have, judging from these photos :p But I think the lesson is to start appreciating what we do have and not buy just because we're beauty junkies and something is cheap.

    1. I only took photos of half the drawer, because this side's more interesting. The other side has all my brushes and pencil liners and mascaras but a whole heap of boring things so I didn't include that. And it's a valuable lesson! :) xx
