September Favourites

I don't have much in way of new and exciting favourites this time. I'm still very much in my rut. September was a muddle of a month, and I don't recall where half of it went. I'm inundated with assignments at the moment, which is why the post count is a bit bleh. Pshh spring break, more like study break. I can't wait til it's Christmas holidays. :D

I decided to forgo foundation for the majority of September, surprise surprise, but have come pretty close to cleaning out the pan of the old Mary Kay powder foundation. Must get around to finding a replacement.

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
I tried going without powder for a few days, but I can't. Heh. This takes away the shine without looking cakey or dull.

Essence Silky Touch Blush in Babydoll

I did wear my Bourjois blushes loads but I threw this into my makeup bag and have carried this around with me all month. A wise move, because the Bourjois blushes tend to disappear on me after about 4 hours and touching up with this is so simple: a soft rosy pink with a slight sheen which really complements the bronzer I've been wearing. I don't fear losing it if I'm careless because it's so cheap to replace.

Bourjois Delice de Poudre 'Chocolate' Bronzer (forgot to photograph it, but featured in this post.)
After doing some demolition work on it, the pigmentation is finally at a stage where I can use this properly. I used the rounded handle of a glass nail file to scrape the top layer off and the pigmentation has never been better. I've been using this as a soft contour with the Ecotools blush brush, which I find works better than the Real Techniques Contour Brush which is quite harsh and requires more skill.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
Understated, so pretty and basically foolproof even for my eyelids.

Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine
My menthol Baby Lips balm disappeared this month, somewhere in the depths of my bag, so I used this a lot more and every time I applied it the scent would make the experience that much more enjoyable.

Revlon Lip Butters in Cotton Candy and Peach Parfait
I really like Cotton Candy but can only wear it if I sheer it out, but when I do wear it the gold sheen is so pretty. Peach Parfait's a no brainer- it's almost my ideal everyday lip colour.

Ecotools Blush Brush
I'm fairly sure this was my most-used brush during the month of September- for both bronzer and blush. An excellent brush, and worth much more than I paid for it, surely. :)

Clean and Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Spot Gel
I wouldn't normally include a spot treatment in my favourites but this has earned its place. My skin's been rubbish for the past couple of weeks, and this was very well-loved during that period of time. I've used it up, and will definitely buy another, but for the moment I'm determined to get some use out of Lush Grease Lightning.

Stella by Stella McCartney EDP (also forgot to include this in the photo, but featured in this post.)
I've worn this almost everyday since getting it. I did try to switch it up with Estee Lauder Beautiful but I don't like it anywhere near as much as Stella when it's on the skin- Beautiful turns a bit sickly on me so I don't think I'll be going near it for a long while. I've become a firm believer in perfume after a particularly productive feel-good day when I wore this and remained in a really good frame of mind for just about the whole day and basically completed a few weeks' work in an assignment in one afternoon. To me, that's pretty amazing. :)

So those are my September Favourites! Now I've got to get back to schoolwork!
Take care and God bless! xx

  3. I love the cotton candy RLB! I really need to get Peach Parfait and the essence babydoll blush.
I really like the ecotools blush brush too! except I use it for powder because I don't have a powder brush lol.

How fast does the clean and clear spot gel work? Because I have pimples that don't seem to go away!

    1. You should definitely try Peach Parfait- it's the one of the few beauty bits my 15yo sister approves of! The blush is great too, and so cheap. All the Ecotools brushes I've tried are amazing. :) Though I think I've tried almost all of them except the kit that you've got lol. The spot gel works really well for me- I'm almost certain it beats all the spot treatments I've tried.

  4. I wish perfume made me more productive lol. I can't believe you have almost finished that Mary Kay - that's amazing to me! It's funny how we get a sense of achievement from using up a makeup product :p I'm totally with you about using the RT blush brush for softer contour, rather than the specific contour brush. I like to use the RT Multitask for contouring, which is similar to the blush brush but a tad less soft and smaller. Have to reiterate the love for Bad to the Bronze - it really is the best (as we've already established numerous times before!) :)

    1. Hahaha I was amazed at how much perfume made a difference to my mood. And I'll be so sad to see the end of the powder, but also so satisfied because I'll be able to move onto 'bigger and better things'! I think I'll hold off making an order to StrawberryNet until you've posted about the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder ;) and I want to buy the RT Blush and Stippling brushes but cannot stand the thought of losing another package to the postal service! Hehehe BTTB love. Let us know how you get on with the new Colour Tattoo you bought! :)

    2. So the iHerb packages never arrived? :( That's so disappointing! I just realised I said the RT blush brush in my original comment - I meant the Ecotools :p But the point remains the same I suppose. Gold Shimmer is okay, darker than BTTB and it leans slightly olive gold on me. I tried the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder today - going to test it out for a bit longer before reviewing. At first I wasn't too enamoured of it, mainly because I think I just used way too much the first time, but I feel a bit more positive about it after today. I think you will like it though the loose powder is a bit fiddly. What colour are you thinking of getting?

    3. The Ecotools did but the RT Stippling and the Queen Helene Mint Julep masque never did. I have an inkling that it might the fault of the mask because dodgy chemical ingredients aren't something Customs/Border Security fawns upon... So I'm determined to order the Blush and Stippling brushes- anything else I should be considering? I'm on the fence about whether I should wait til the end of the spending ban hah. Darker than BTTB would be dark indeed... Though it sounds right up your alley :P I was so dead set on Natural Beige for the mineral powder, but after reading Tiffany's (Will Work For Makeup) blog, Real Sand has crept in and is making me have second thoughts about which shade to buy. Which one did you get matched with?

    4. Oh no :( That sucks about the package never being received by you. Surely if customs were to withhold it, the least they could do is notify you? I encourage you to wait until the end of your ban - you'll probably feel a greater sense of achievement if you made it until the end, and more justified/compelled to renew your spending as a reward for your self-discipline :p I am still preferring BTTB over Gold Shimmer, in fact, I barely use the latter. It might be a bit too dark for everyday wear - even for me! Lol. As for the Laura Mercier, I didn't get matched by anyone in Sephora or at a department store counter, but I pretty much just slapped some of Natural Beige and Real Sand on my face, and decided which was closer and that I liked better. I went for Real Sand, but for me, I'd say it is on the light side. It depends whether you want to go lighter or darker for your foundation. If Real Sand is too light, I guess you could always bronze it up slightly? Whereas it's a bit hard to lighten up something that's too dark.

  5. Peach Parfait's my everyday go to lip color as well! Seriously that color's a complete no brainer, it's like 'my lips, only way better!' XD I seriously love it!

    1. I've had a love-hate relationship with Peach Parfait since I got it in March- I love the colour, but can't stand how glittery it can be look sometimes! Clearly it works better for you than it does for me though! Glad to hear it! x

  6. Peach Parfait is such a flattering color, I find it to be the Nars Orgasm of lip sticks, haha. However, since it is a my-lips-but-better color for me, I can find it too boring sometimes.
