January Favourites

Today's post features my most used products of January! I'm going to keep busy this year with Uni workload and other commitments and may not have the time to do a favourites post each month. However, since it's still the holidays I've got time in abundance, so here are my January Favourites. Brisbane's been chaotic these past few days with the torrential rain and now the flood warnings, but thankfully my area's held up pretty well and we haven't been directly affected.

NARS Deep Throat blush
I do like this and I've been wearing it often, but I'm not as thrilled as I thought I'd be. I had really high expectations of Deep Throat, but even after swatching it and having it applied on me before I bought it, it's just a really simple everyday peachy pink blush. To be honest, I think the Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colours have better pigmentation, and blend just as nicely, but Deep Throat's a great everyday blush.

Bourjois Delice de Poudre 'Chocolate' bronzer
This bronzer gets an awful lot of screentime from beauty Youtubers and bloggers, and rightly so, but I have a love-hate relationship with it because it likes to seal off. When it doesn't seal off and I use a dense brush like the Ecotools Baby Kabuki or Blush Brush, it warms the face nicely, without any orange tones or muddy patchiness.

Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadows in Seashells
Sofea baked Single Colour Shadow in 07
The Sofea shadow was featured in this post, and I've worn few other eyeshadows since getting this. This peachy champagne is such a pretty everyday lid colour. The Revlon cream shadows are a good base and improve the vibrancy of the powder eyeshadow placed on top. My favourite is the first one on the left, surprise surprise, a peachy champagne.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Cherry Tart
I had a couple of parties to go to and this lipstick was so suited to the occasion. It's such a pretty sheer, buildable red and the formula is similar to the CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks that I swatch but can never bring myself to buy.

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Peach
I highly recommend getting this if you ever come across it, as the formula is so comfortable to wear and the colour gives such a summery pep to the face. It's less peach than it is coral, which I didn't like as I thought it would be more peach like Soft Nude from the same Colorburst line, but it's still a great lipstick regardless.

One more favourite that I failed to include in photos is La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo, which I bought from Terry White chemist after hearing both Ruth Crilly and Tanya Burr sing its praises. It works by unclogging pores and after using it for the past week, it's already improved my skin's texture and my skin looks clearer and more glowy.

Base products have been the same ones featured in this post and mascaras have been the ones featured here. I've been skipping liner, instead letting mascara and eyeshadow do their thing unhindered, and it looks simple and fresh, and less heavy.

My last January favourites are these cookies. With gloomy skies and no plans, my sister and I took to baking chocolate chip cookies and we added a cupful of peanuts to the batter and they were so yummy and indulgent... D:

  1. Lovely post! Peach looks really nice. I have seen it in Cosmetics Plus so I might just have to pick it up next time I'm there! And the rain has been torrential but the weather is looking really great today. I was without power for about 24hrs throughout Sunday and Monday!

    1. Really? I've never seen it in Cosmetics Plus, but then again I haven't really been looking. That's awful, glad it's been fixed though! :) x

    1. Thankyou! Peach is so pretty, and it would look amazing on your skin tone! I'm undecided about the Bourjois bronzer- I'm looking for something better. :) x

  4. I'm so tempted to purchase the Bourjois Chocolate bronzer but the "sealing" off doesn't really appeal to me- I want a product that is easy to use! I like how you describe it as a shade that isn't orange or muddy. Revlon lipsticks are great but I don't have any ColourBursts myself- but your description of Peach makes me want to try it :)

  5. I really want the NARS deep throat blush but I already have MAC peaches which is a really nice peach blush so I really have no need for the NARS one... I might get it if I can ever find it on sale

    1. I think MAC Peaches is more peach than NARS Deep Throat, which leans very pink. Haha if only NARS went on sale! :) x

  7. Oooh, I didn't know you could buy the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo from Terry White! Totally hoping to find it next time I come across one :) Deep Throat isn't super pigmented - which I don't mind, but I don't think the texture is amazing either. It just seems to blend well and last decently on the face. But I agree that there are so many similar colours that could be substituted for it. You seemed to have used up so much of the Bourjois bronzer! I have the one with the swivel mirror (not the chocolate block) and you really have to smash it hard with a brush to get any pigment :p

    1. Not all Terry Whites stock it, I have a couple near me and one out of three had it. Deep Throat is probably the ideal beginner's blush, you can't really go wrong with it. I didn't use it all! The pigmentation's awful so most of it has been scraped off. :( The RT Stippling brush is great for using with the bronzer though!
