Rosy Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector

I thought long and hard about whether or not to get this gloss, but when I was at the Clarins counter it was very much a 'fine, I'll just get it since I'm here' decision. A few beauty Youtubers and bloggers say that if you don't like lip gloss, get this one. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector is well-loved and I've read so many rave reviews. The soft, gel formula nourishes, repairs and protects to make the lips visibly more beautiful, or so the box says. I bought the shade 01 Rose Shimmer, and there are also Apricot and Nude variations. The Clarins lady said that 02 Apricot Shimmer would help to neutralise the pigmentation of my lips but when I was contemplating whether to get the pink one or the peach one (or neither), she added that Rose Shimmer looked more natural and that, since I was interested in that one first, I should get that one. A tad pushy, but of course, I wound up buying it.
It has a foam applicator, which is different to the usual sponge-tip gloss wands. I find it needs a little getting used to as it's kind of small and scratchy but it's neater and doesn't involve double-dipping back into the tube like traditional lip glosses. It smells like vanilla, and tastes sweet. I personally don't like the taste, but I know people will. The scent is really nice, and it's not overpowering. In that sense, I prefer my Napoleon Perdis Perfect Peach gloss because that one smells amazing and doesn't taste of anything. The gloss itself is a sheer petal pink, and only imparts the slightest tint. It does have an impact on the general appearance though, and I really like how it looks when worn. Upon application, it feels more like a balm than anything else. Plush, non-sticky, hydrating and according to a Clarins salesgirl I spoke to around Christmastime, it conditions the lips over time and repairs them. Bah, too good to be true.

At $26, it's considerably less than MAC lipglasses ($43) and CHANEL Glossimers ($45) and it contains 12mL. I do like it, and I think it lives up the hype, but I don't think you absolutely have to have it because it's not that special.

  1. I got this recently and I really like the balmy texture, I keep it in my bag to apply on the go! It's a shame you didn't think it stood up to the hype, personally I loved it.

    1. Wow, what shade did you get? I do like it! I do, I'm just not crazy about it like I thought I'd be. I think it would be great to keep in my bag because it won't melt like a lipstick. :)

  3. I've been getting more interested in Clarins makeup but have yet to take the plunge. I like that their products are a tad more affordable than other higher end brands (if $26 for a lip gloss is considered "affordable"), though I have so many lip products and I'm not a huge fan of anything kind of glossy on my lips that I'll probably pass. But still, lovely packaging :)

    1. Haha *reality check* that sort of money on a lip gloss is madness. I'm second guessing my judgement- maybe I should have gotten the peach one. :/

  4. I tried this before before it was in a gift with purchase set. I think it was long lasting and nice. It's much better than their actual lip gloss range.

    1. I've seen it in sets before, sometimes they're tiny little 5mL versions and they're adorable! I've had a look at their Colour Quench lip glosses but none of them really interest me. I love this though. :) xx
