Makeup Edit | Autumn

With autumn rolling in, I thought I'd share my picks for an autumnal makeup edit. I'm definitely a autumn-winter-spring person- in summer my skin goes berserk. I've never really thought about season-specific makeup in this way, but it was fun picking out the items that I'm planning on swapping into my daily routine.

Shiseido Dual Balancing Foundation SPF15 in I20 Natural Light Ivory
The claims this foundation makes are pretty incredible, balancing out combination skin, catering for its needs and whatnot, but hopefully it'll come into its own when I try it out properly. Both of these foundations are too light for me, especially after a day at the beach, so I'm looking forward to using them in autumn and winter.

Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in Real Sand
I bought this and found it to be a shade too light. Hopefully in the cooler months it'll match better. This is so easy to apply, looks very natural and doesn't aggravate skin issues.

Australis Creme Colour for Cheeks and Lips in Flirtatious Pink
This is one of only two cream blushes I own, and I adore the colour. When I'm swatching things in Priceline, this always catches my eye and I give it a quick look and think 'Ah, I already own this' and feel quite satisfied. Then I laugh at myself for being smug. This is such a pretty peachy pink and although the texture is a bit stiff, it applies well with synthetic brushes and looks very natural. I find cream blushes to look more natural than powder and I get dry patches on my cheeks so it's great for when the weather starts to cool down.

Bourjois Pot Rouge in Rose Frisson
I'm getting rid of a couple of my Bourjois blushes that I don't like anymore but this is here to stay because after seeing it in action (albeit in the hands of Lisa Eldrige), I'm convinced it's a good one. The baked powder of the Bourjois blushes can be difficult to use but this one is such a pretty matte shade of rose.

I contemplated photographing the MAC Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish too, but that's already in my daily makeup storage as I use it as in eyeshadow and a cheekbone highlight so I didn't bother putting it in the photos.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze (swatched here)
I usually steer clear of eyeshadow on a day to day basis but this is an exception. So easy to use and such a pretty colour, this metallic bronze cream shadow has received so much screentime, and it's not undeserving of it all. It stays put all day, is creamy and pigmented and the colour is so wearable and flattering on all skintones.

Bourjois Liner Feutre
Finally, a liquid eyeliner that I'm happy with. I've worn it out a few times now and I'm impressed with the wear time. No fading to be seen, and although it's not waterproof, it's resistant to smudging and humidity. I like to keep my eyes to a bare minimum in the warmer months but come autumn I'll be busting this out on a regular basis. I wore both of these yesterday and loved the way they looked.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey (swatched here)
I bought this thinking it to be something to wear on a daily basis but it's a little darker than I'd prefer. During the cooler months, however, I think it would suit very nicely. The medium neutral pink that leans mauve has great staying power and more often than not I don't bother touching up these Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains.

Korres Wild Rose lip butter
This is as close as I'll get to a dark lip for now. Definitely darker than I'd usually go, Wild Rose is a plummy blue-based rose and I think it will be fun to play around with.

  1. The Australis cream blush seems so nice! I'd love to try their products x

  2. Nice picks, I love how they look similar in colour :)
Gotta love the Revlon JBKBS in Honey!

    1. Thankyouu! And Honey's lovely- I think it applies smoother than Charm.

  3. The Laura Mercier Mineral Powder sounds lovely and the Australis cream blush looks quite nice.
    Great choices! x

  4. I love love love the revlon just bitten! ^_~

  5. Absolutely love Bad to the Bronze, bought it not long ago and been wearing it everyday since! It is so wearable and easy to use for everyday- as well as being such a pretty shade. Love the butteriness of Korres Lip Butters and the cute crayon that is Revlon's balm stains!

  6. I love the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder :). I went through 2-3 of that Korres Wild Rose lip butter too ^^ great stuff

  7. That's the joy of having a lot of makeup - you can get really specific about what you want to wear, be it occasion or season-specific :) I'm liking the ideas here. I don't know if I really get that much fairer in winter - but I guess with less daylight, if you're a bit paler than you are, it's not that noticeable as opposed to when it's broad daylight out until 8:30pm :p Have you tried Wild Rose on your cheeks? I found it surprisingly not that bad of a blush if very minimally applied, especially as Wild Rose for whatever reason is less tacky/sticky than the other Lip Butters from Korres I have.

    1. I haven't tried Wild Rose on the cheeks- I did try Pomegranate on the cheeks and I found it a bit sticky. I'll give Wild Rose a go! I have Pomegranate tucked away in a little emergency stash pouch of Panadol and Telfast and moisturiser samples because I'm secretly a "be prepared" old lady like that. I'm very tempted to get Mango next time I'm ordering from ASOS... maybe when the Celestial Apocalips is in stock? :P

  8. great idea in choosing products suited for a season! the korres lip butter looks like it would be great for an autumn day :)
