At Home and Away

Being whisked away for a couple of days means less time to get ready, without the gazillion options available to me at home so I've keeping it simple and limiting myself to skincare basics.

To cleanse in the morning I've opted for a travel-sized bottle of the Caudalie Makeup Remover Cleansing Water instead of wipes which I usually use when away. To tone I'm bringing the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, which is down to its last few spritzes. Following up with La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo all over the face, which keep blemishes away. To inject some moisture back into the skin, the morning arsenal consists of Hydraluron and Steamcream decanted into a sample jar. As usual, slip-slap-slopping on the SPF with Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50.

The evening routine starts off with the mysterious looking liquid in the clear bottle, Antipodes Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser decanted, container from Daiso. The clear liquid in the second container is Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Lotion, which is an alcohol-free toner. The hyaluronic acid makes the most of any moisturiser placed over the top but unlike Hydraluron this is hydrating on its own. I found my skin was at its best when using the Effaclar Duo twice a day, so that goes on next. The final step is the moisture, but at night I prefer to use Bio-Oil. Before bed I swipe on a lip balm, lately it's been Caudalie Soin de Levres lip conditioner.

The cosmetics bag is Aqua by Jimeale NY for Target and I'm so glad I bought this for my China holiday because it can hold loads and isn't an odd shape like some structured cosmetics bags which are incredibly difficult to cram into a bag. When I leave home for a trip, there's always something I forget. Usually it's spare hair ties but sometimes I've forgotten about a half-eaten bar of chocolate in my room or an iPod charger. This time it was a powerboard and the silicone scrubby cleansing pad I use with my cleanser. Ah well, you win some, you lose some.

    1. I usually overpack and forget one thing. Before leaving the house I always wonder what I'll forget this time...

  2. Love your cute little bag. I use the Effaclar Duo as well and love it. It is HG for me since it really decongests my skin and keeps break outs at bay!

    1. I thought I could do without Effaclar Duo but it's nearing HG status- I don't think I have any HG things yet so it's a pretty big deal. :)
