September Favourites

September Favourites time! I don't want October to come- the jacarandas are blooming, which is a sure sign that exam season is bearing down upon us all. Gone are the leisurely brunches and lazy days. On the upside, I'm planning a trip to China again in December! This time we're going to China camp in Quanzhou, to a Shaolin martial arts school, which is a far cry from my Harbin experience last year but definitely a good experience to look forward to.

Sheet Masks
I buy mine from a Korean mart every few months- usually in a pack of 10. The stockist isn't loyal to a particular brand so I switch it up and choose different ones, e.g cucumber, aloe, wormwood but this time I just got a pack of 10 vitamin masks. I use them before bed and go to sleep with a mask on. Often I wake up and find that I've taken it off my face in my sleep. It helps inject some moisture and replenish the skin- different to the clarifying masks which require washing off, sheet masks are more hydrating and nourishing- perfect for nights I can't be bothered with an entire skincare regimen.

Marc Jacobs Daisy

Spring scent. I love this to bits. Full post here.

Ecotools Bronzer Brush

I used this with the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder over concealer and it distributes a light layer of powder which I'm really happy with. Three strokes and you're basically done. Saves a lot of time compared to buffing it into the skin.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-3 in Undercover duo

I don't know if I was sleeping more, eating better or if my skincare was finally kicking in but I hadn't had a spot in ages, but when one did rear its ugly little head this month, I pulled this concealer out and remembered how good it was! There's nothing better at covering spots.

T'was also the month of lip products.
Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter in Rose Shimmer

I've been putting more lip products in my bag to try and use them when I'm out and about but this is the one constant that's stayed there almost since I got it at the beginning of the year. It's so easy to apply in place of a balm.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp

I love this- it's so pretty and looks good on exfoliated lips. It smells like vanilla, and honey cake batter. Sadly I had to go all the way to Singapore to buy it, however for Australians who are less averse to online shopping, it's far easier to purchase.

Lioele Blooming Gloss in Vanilla Pink

This was a handbag favourite- Brisbane's gotten hot in the space of week so I've avoided melty lipsticks and tossed this into my tote instead. I haven't spoken about it since receiving it in an eBay order but it's finally gotten some decent wear-time and I like it. Also, it smells like Korean plum candy or peach iced tea (much like the Australis Colour Inject glosses).

Bourjois Colour Boost Glossy Lipstick in Peach on the Beach

This is worth the hype but it's not the most bag-friendly packaging because the lid can come off easily and it's melty. It requires a few blots because it's well-pigmented but emollient like a lipstick. I really like this borderline-neon peachy pink- it's very seasonal.

  1. So jealous you are planning a trip to China! I will have to live vicariously through you :) Great products, Daisy is one of my favorite perfumes, perfect scent all year round.

  2. The martial arts school sounds awesome! I was planning to come to this year's trip but sadly with the lack of information earlier in the year, my parents booked flights for HK (it was a good deal with limited seats). I'm still excited to be going to HK again, and I think we might be going to Vietnam but that's not for sure yet. I really want to go on one of the China trips though! I still need to get Peach on the Beach, but it was out of stock last time I went to Priceline!

    1. The itinerary sounds intense but it should be fun! The first year we went it was all museums and mucking around, the second trip had a week of classes and the sightseeing was incredible so this year's different still! HK is still a great holiday destination- I've never been outside the airport lol but there's lots of shopping (and Sasa)!
Lots of things are out of stock at the QSM Priceline but I just go to the Elizabeth St store and they usually have whatever I'm looking for :)

  3. Oooh yay another trip! Always good to have something to look forward to :) Will be keeping an eye out for your makeup/skin care travel posts before you go.

I've been seeing a lot of Ecotools bronzer brushes - now I can't help but think it's something I'm missing from my brush collection. I have this baby kabuki which I suppose is the next best thing, though it's like 70% smaller.

I wanted to get Rose Shimmer but they were out of stock at House of Fraser, so I had to go for some apricot one. Shade 02. I find the Clarins Lip Perfectors to be very similar to the Korres Lip Butters, if anything. Perhaps a bit more traditionally lip glossy, but still plush/comfortable in a lip balm way. Especially since my colour is basically a slightly darker/peachier Jasmine.

  4. I'd never thought the Clarins glosses were similar to the Korres Lip Butters but in texture and appearance I guess they're both light and balmy. I was trying to decide between the Rose or Apricot and the Clarins saleslady was impatient and told me to go for the Rose one because the Apricot was too pale for my colouring.
I've got the baby kabuki too- I don't know where it is atm but I did like it a lot! The bronzer brush is so chunky that it pats powder on so easily and quickly. I don't use it for bronzer much though- too dense to disperse the colour evenly and too big to take the product under the cheekbone.
