Just Not That Into You

The Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask did not start off on the best foot with me. I wasn't sure which mask to go for when I traded in 5 containers for a free mask and the sales assistant confirmed that this was the one for me when I mentioned I liked the Angels On Bare Skin cleanser. I don't think it's my favourite mask of all, but it's alright in its own right.

First off, it's not bad. I didn't love it, but I did like it. While I like it, I'm not mad about it. My skin wasn't too spotty when I tried it but it was congested and I think it helped to calm the skin and decongest a bit. Just a bit. The main ingredient is calamine, which is supposed to calm and soothe. It's also a key ingredient in Lush's Aqua Marina cleanser, but I didn't like that because of the strong scent, and like every Lush product, this too is scented but only mildly so. The chunks of blueberry skin are quite visible when the mask is applied and removed. One tip is to be smart about where you go when you do face masks. Sometimes I put one on and while it's working, I like to use my laptop or phone but with Lush face masks, make sure you're not sitting in a carpeted room or somewhere that's difficult to clean up because if you do anything to move your face, it gets all over the place. It's got a mealy, crumbly texture on the skin that makes for a messy experience. When it dries on the skin, it likes to crumble off. It leaves a funny feeling on the skin, like something is left clinging- possibly the talc- but that doesn't linger for long and an hour or two after application the skin feels smooth and clean, without any tightness or residue.
The bad thing about Lush masks is the short shelf-life. The Fresh nature of them means they need to be used 2-3 times a week before they expire and you probably shouldn't buy them on a hot day (like I did) in a sunny outdoor mall (like I did). Pro tips, guys. I wouldn't mind trying the Brazened Honey mask next, but I think I prefer my non-Fresh face masks.

Don't mind the 2014 date! I took these photos a while ago.
