Game of Chromes

I love me some George R.R. Martin and with a name like Game of Chromes, such a blatant pun cannot be overlooked. I was also super excited to try Sally Hansen's new gel system- I've never had gel nails so in all honesty I don't know what the benchmark is, but for the most part, this is a great shade and best of all, the formula is quick-drying and easy to apply. (Nail polish dream!) I'm the kind of girl who will apply her nail polish and remove it from both hands 3 times in one sitting because it constantly smudges when I'm waiting for it to dry, and this duo didn't give me that problem at all.

Rimmel's Oh, Mr Darcy! with Game of Chromes dotted on top

Sally Hansen's Game of Chromes* is a stunning cool-toned gold, quite smoothly metallic. It looks molten, which is very pretty. I anticipated it being a festive stunner but I wore it for a good 7 days and even got boyfriend approval because it's not too in-your-face. I also tried it out with a dotting tool to add a spot of glitz to a neutral polish like Rimmel's Oh, Mr Darcy! (my current favourite neutral). The formula boasts 14 days of gel-style wear without the hassle of using the light technology of the traditional gel nails and while it lasts much longer than regular polish it doesn't live up to 2 weeks of wear. I was so impressed with how easily it applied- the regular wide brush that the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure line has and the way it dries in under a minute (kind of like my favourite top coat, Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Anti-Chip top coat) makes for an awesome nail polish experience that almost redeems manicures for me.
