What's In My Bag?

The last time I did a bag post was in 2013 (link here!) and that bag served me faithfully until it died a sudden death in Target a couple of months ago when the strap broke irreparably. I'd been on the lookout for a reasonably priced replacement that was appropriate for both casual use and more professional environments so when I found the Iva Plate Tote from Colette by Colette Hayman I was happy. When it went on sale in May I was overjoyed.

I absolutely love this bag. I carry it with the long strap most of the time, and the structured style is perfect for accommodating my things without the fear of them being thrown around and scratching screens or metal hardware like I've experienced with less-structured bags. I like the colour, the fact that it looks identical on either side, or reversible, so that I don't have to worry if I'm carrying it the right way round, and the size.

My phone is a rather cheap Motorola Moto G ('You can still buy Motorola?' I hear you exclaim in surprise. I hear this from almost every person who asks me what phone I have and if it is a Nexus) and it's wearing a mint-coloured Goospery by Mercury jelly case.
The pouch is from Mimco and functions as my wallet/purse. I really like it, as you could probably tell from my birthday wishlist blog post. I don't like the regular Mimco badge-style pouch designs but this 'Supernatural' design is prettier and I love the tan leather and the smooth YKK zipper- qualities that set the Mimco pouches apart from the various $5 copies from Cotton On and ValleyGirl.
Cheap Monday prescription sunglasses from Specsavers that I included in this post and Audio-Technica headphones because I can't find my more portable Apple earphones. These fold flat and the cord retracts into the side so they're quite compact.

I like having the smaller card holder from David Jones because it holds 4-5 essential cards like ID, travel card and debit card and it fits into the Mimco pouch which holds cash and loyalty cards that I don't always need to whip out whenever I'm boarding or alighting from the bus or train.

The Fitbit was a birthday present from my brother and while I like it and it motivates me, I haven't really figured out a good charging-using cycle type of routine with it yet. Keys, Kodak film that I have to take to get developed and Lush's jasmine-scented Gorilla solid perfume in Lust that I scooped out of the push-pop style tube and into a sample pot from The Body Shop.

The Caudalie hand cream that I'm using up and a replacement for it from L'Occitane, a Carmex Moisture Plus lip balm, and 4 pens, 2 of which have highlighters on the end that come in very handy for study notes. There's a distinct lack of beauty products in my bag at the moment because I'm still getting used to this bag and how much weight it can comfortably take. Last year I had about 7 lip products in my bag at one point and that's just not on. Having these short-handled 'crook of the elbow' style bags mean aching arms and lopsided posture when the bag is too heavy so I need to be wise about what I carry around. If you've made it this far, thank you so much for sticking around! I don't know why I'm curious about what girls carry around in their bags when almost all of us carry the same essentials.
