I | Unboxing my kikki.K 2016 Planner

For Day 1 of 12 Days of Christmas blogposts, I'm unboxing my planner for 2016! Not only is it a motivating initiative for the new year, but planners can also double as a pretty and functional Christmas present. I've been using diaries for many years and I started using kikki.K diaries a few years ago when my best friend gifted me one for my birthday. I've loved using them ever since and I've been buying diaries annually from kikki.K and Typo, experimenting with the daily, weekly and monthly view diaries. In anticipation of 2016, I decided to take the plunge and try a kikki.K leather planner (link to their range here!).

I took advantage of a members' 20% off sale and purchased a Textured Leather Personal Planner Medium in Ice Blue, the Cute Time Planner 2016 Medium Refill and the kikki.K edition of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo. I saw that the Personal Planners come with a blank 'perpetual' monthly calendar and a bunch of tabs for meetings, to-do lists and blank notepaper and while I would prefer the Time Planner, which is closer to a regular 2016 diary, I didn't feel drawn to any of the Time Planner designs so I purchased the Time Planner refill instead! It has the year in a weekly view, which is perfect for my use because after years of trying out different planners I have found that I prefer the weekly view because it allows me to see what is ahead as well as allowing enough space to write down what I did and bought, and where I went each day. I've used the Cute diaries from kikki.K before and the adorable addition of illustrations scattered throughout the weeks- like the strawberries visible on the first page- are a whimsical and fun take on the regular planner pages, which you can also buy.

I love the Christmas print on the delivery box! The amount of padding and wrapping which my order was swaddled in indicated a lot of thought and care, which I greatly appreciated. Unfortunately AusPost is doing a dreadful job of delivering to my house, as they don't bother to press the doorbell or knock on the door, instead preferring to just leave a card saying they attempted delivery and that they're dropping the package off in a remote warehouse a few kilometers away. To make matters worse, the warehouse for this collection depot is only open 8am-4pm, which means I can't even go before or after work. I'm not sure what to do in this situation; do I write to someone? Regardless, the package came home to me eventually thanks to my family and I was very satisfied with my kikki.K loot.

The Saffiano leather of the planner is as lovely and durable as I expected- this version of the planner, without the perforations is an online exclusive but I wanted it because I felt it would be easier to maintain than the one with the decorative perforations. To my delight, the Time Planner refill includes the month of December as well, which means I can start using it now. I've almost finished reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying and I've started putting some of the advice into practice, which is working out great. I'm so happy I managed to snag it in this kikki.K design cover because I've wanted to read it for a while, and I've wanted to buy some things from the watercolour of the Be Brave collection but I wasn't a big fan of the butterflies or the Be Brave Be Bold slogan, so this is perfect!
