II | S/S Lips and Cheeks Edit

The thing I love most about spring and summer makeup are the gorgeous corals, pinks and peaches for lips and cheeks. I pulled some of my favourites out of my stash and decided I would make an attempt to get more wear out of these gorgeous shades.

The Corals
I absolutely love blushes - they're my favourite thing to swatch and blend- and the coral pink Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Lush Nectarine is one of my favourites; it has just the right amount of gold dust shot through it to make it glowy without being glittery. NYX Terra Cotta blush is also one of my most-loved blushes because apricot-with-gold-shimmer never goes out of style and it's one that can be worn year-round, though I prefer to keep it to spring-summer-autumn and leave winter to the pinks.
Two coral lip products that I love are the Maybelline Baby Lips Electropop which were a great treat because the majority of the Baby Lips range here in Australia is clear. These tinted lip balms flew off the shelves and I snagged one in Electro Orange, which I think is pleasantly moisturising and leaves a subtle coral-orange tint to the lips. The Lioele Pop Orange Tint is a longer-lasting alternative, as its tint is a true stain- lasting hours before it needs another application. This is one of my favourite products for its low-maintenance; I've contemplated investing in Benefit Cha Cha Tint because I love this Lioele tint so much, but I love this one and will make the most of it before retiring it for a more expensive counterpart.

The Pinks
Pink is a more dolly aspect of lips and cheeks that I don't normally love, but these products are gorgeous. The Lioele Blooming Gloss in Vanilla Pink is a beautiful shade of pink and the formula smells divine- like delicious Korean plum hard candy. The Bourjois pot blush in Rose D'Or is another gorgeous shade which Michelle recommended a long time ago. I depotted my Bourjois blushes and I don't get as much wear out of this one anymore but pulling it out served as a good reminder to use it because this shade of pink with gold shimmer is so pretty and I love the smell of Bourjois blushes. The blush from Sleek's Face Form Contour Kit in Light is the individual blush in Rose Gold and I like it because not only is it a gorgeous pink- it has a generous dose of gold shimmer. It needs careful application so that it's not a glitterbomb on the cheeks but the golden sheen it imparts on the cheekbones means forgoing highlighter, which is great for convenience's sake. The rest of the Face Form Contour Kit is excellent too- Sleek is one of those under-the-radar brands that do amazing products for the price.

The Peaches
I spoke about NYX Terra Cotta in the Corals but it crosses over into peach, which is why it's also included in this group. The Rimmel Kate Moss Nudes Lipsticks* in 43 and 45 were gaining ground on blogs and in the shops for their unique range of shades and their super-wearable formula. I can't get away with a few of the shades that are definitely suited to skin tones other than mine, but these two are my favourites. 43 is a peachy, brown-based nude with a lighter feel on the lips, while 45 is a rosy, my-lips-but-better type of nude. I love everything about these except the smell, which I feel is artificial and too-sweet. I couldn't do this post without a mention of my favourite blush, the peachy pink NARS Deep Throat, which I've loved for a long time now, and use almost daily. It has the best formula and wear-time of almost all the blushes I've tried, and I'm so thankful that I bought a famed NARS blush in a ultra-wearable shade because it's definitely my favourite of my collection!
