VII | 2015 Highlights

2015 has been a great year and I feel like I've grown a lot and have begun the transition into adulthood. I'm graduating University in a semester, working and learning more everyday. I'm thoroughly looking forward to what the new year holds, as well as missing simpler times when I didn't have to make real world decisions and life was carefree.

1. Turning 21
I had a fantastic time celebrating my twenty-first birthday with my friends and family! Read all about it here. I had a beautiful day out at Redcliffe, a lush family dinner at Tartufo and a fun dinner with friends at Hatch & Co, all while redeeming birthday freebies from vendors like kikki.K, Witchery, Mimco, Boost and Hakataya Ramen.

2. Adventures
We ran off to a few beautiful destinations this year, including Redcliffe, Wellington Point and Noosa. With regular scenic day trips breaking up the routine, there were times I felt like I wasn't even studying and working, which was refreshing. I think taking the time to step back, appreciate the quiet time, put things in perspective and have a breather did a lot of good.

3. Food
I love eating and making good food and I had a lot of it this year! I auditioned for Masterchef Australia but didn't get past the first few heats and I baked a lot and ate at a lot of wonderful places. I kept a list of eateries I've visited throughout the year in a diary that I bought from Typo on the blank note pages in the back because I used to have kikki.K diaries and they had a section dedicated to the notable books, restaurants, movies and websites of the year. I found the best banana bread recipe in the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook, made a lot of bread and brownies and visited quite a lot of restaurants in 2015 and they were mostly wonderful and memorable (not to mention tasty) experiences. Restaurants that were particularly delightful were SONO Portside, Bird's Nest Yakitori, Miel Container Premium Burger, NKB Express, Popolo and Genkotsu Ramen. Cafes I loved this year were Koko Black, Reverend's Fine Coffee, Chouquette, Hallowed Grounds and Cafe Brisbane.

4. Health and Fitness
2015 was the year I started taking health and fitness seriously, trading in junky meals for healthy alternatives and going running and visiting the gym. I think this is the year I've eaten the least instant noodles and sugary desserts. I've loved improving my endurance, trying to eat clean (steamed vegetables are my favourite!) and being motivated to wake up early and make the most of the day by fitting in some active time.

5. Taylor Swift 1989 World Tour
I've never been to a pop concert before and I think Taytay's 1989 concert was a sure way to pop the cherry. She's such a terrific performer and so entertaining. Definitely one of the highlights of the year if all the screaming and 'ohmygosh she's so pretty/cute/talented' had anything to do with it.

THANK YOU 2015
