Move Over 2015

2015 was a great year, but it's time for 2016! I'm sorry I didn't manage to finish my 12 Days of Christmas because posting on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were a bit difficult. I rang in the new year with a tame gathering at a friend's place and sparklers that managed to burn a hole in the sofa...

Kicking off 2016 with a drive down to Burleigh Heads, a lot of congested traffic on the motorway and a gorgeous windy day at the beach.

All Day breakfast and lunch at Canteen Kitchen down in Burleigh Heads was soooo good! Lamb kofta burger and the cumin scrambled eggs with labne, Joseph olive oil, olives and flatbread with a side of lamb kofta were both so good, and the adjoining Canteen Coffee was also amazing! Highly recommend. I wanted to go to Paddock but Peter wanted to come here instead and I'm so glad we did!

The mural at the tiny Laced Espresso on Adelaide St! Their haloumi burger was a good lunch when I needed a quick fix and their coffee isn't bad either.

Made Hummingbird Bakery Banana Loaf for the second time and it turned out terrific- I made it the first time when I found the recipe online and it worked so well I decided to buy the whole book! I've made a few other things and I'm so happy with the way things have turned out so far.

We have vintage wooden Christmas toys as tree ornaments and they're just adorable!

I wanted to try Passiontree Velvet's Full Duchess High Tea for a few months now and I finally visited on Boxing Day with Sam! We got black teas but we later found out there were a bunch of green teas on the menu as well!

Everything looked amazing and tasted delicious but I'm not the biggest fan of macarons so I didn't manage to fit those in.

Really good 칼국수- knife-cut wheat noodles in delicious thick seafood broth with vegetables at Boom Boom Korean restaurant in Sunnybank! If you're in the mood for Korean midweek and Seoul Bistro is closed, Boom Boom do some great specials.

Testing the watercolour cakes and playing with Pentel Aquash brushes for brush lettering! We later tried it with black Art Spectrum ink and it was also super fun.

Our relatives visiting from Perth and Singapore stayed in a CBD apartment overlooking the river and they had a great view of the nightly fireworks leading up to Christmas!

Ventured down to IKEA Logan for some kitchen and homeware bits and had a late late lunch of chicken meatballs with chips, gravy and lingonberry sauce, pear cider and a super rich chunky triple chocolate cheesecake.
