January and February Favourites

It's surprising to think that one-sixth of 2016 has already passed, but here we are, on the cusp of March! I've combined Jan and Feb's favourites because I didn't have a lot to love over January. I did buy a few things in my bedridden time at home and took the time to try them out in February so I could see how they went and present them tried, tested and true!

Benzac Daily Facial Liquid Cleanser + Kuu Konjac Sponge
Benzac AC 5% Acne Gel
I spent most of the December-January period feeling sorry for myself because my skin wasn't cooperating and I was agonising over the breakouts, which probably made it worse. In January I decided to bring Benzac back into my routine because I had neglected to repurchase after running out and my skin had never looked better than when I was using it. I also introduced the Facial Liquid Cleanser from the Benzac line and honestly my skin is so much better than it was and while it can also be attributed to the university break, work doesn't exactly make for a stress-free life so I do think these Benzac products have been a big factor. I use the cleanser on its own in the mornings and with a konjac sponge before my shower at night, and it works great both ways. It smells pleasant, doesn't foam up excessively (in the best way ;) *nods to Caroline Hirons*) and cleanses my skin well without leaving it taut. I follow it up with 1-2 other products and the 5% gel (newly repackaged!) and my breakouts are under control! Hallelujah.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads EXTREME
These exciting swipeys were snagged in Priceline's 40% off Skincare sale and I have been blown away by the results. I haven't used an acid exfoliant like this since running out of the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads and since seeing Priceline stock Nip+Fab I've been waiting for a good sale! I use them every second night (3-4 times a week) and they help to speed up skin cell regeneration by acid-exfoliating my skin. I chose the Night Extreme version of the pads because I knew my skin could withstand the higher strength and I needed something like the glycolic acid and lactic acid to help me get rid of the hyperpigmentation on my skin left behind by breakouts. Using them every second night, I wake up to better, brighter, smoother skin and I couldn't recommend these enough!

Essie Absolutely Shore
This has featured on the blog many times as it goes down as my all-time favourite pedicure polish! I love this pale seafoam green and it's the perfect summer colour imho. The formula isn't the best but I think it's tolerable for the toes. Love this colour to bits all year round!

l-r: Complexion Rescue in Buttercream, Correcting Concealer in Light 2 and Perfecting Veil powder

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Buttercream 03
I bought this in a set and although the size is slightly smaller (20mL instead of 30) it came with a concealer and a mini powder and overall it was a great set for newbies to BareMinerals to try out some of the range! I've really enjoyed using the Complexion Rescue as a sheer base on its own or under a layer of my staple Laura Mercier mineral powder! The BareSkin Perfecting Veil is a great setting powder that I've been using to set the Complexion Rescue and I haven't used a pressed setting powder in a long time- I was surprised at how smooth this one is, and the translucency is great.

EcoTools Mattifying Finish Brush
EcoTools Skin Perfecting Brush for BB/CC Creams
I bought this set of EcoTools brushes from iHerb for a lot cheaper than it retails for in Australia at Priceline now, because I really wanted to try the BB/CC Cream brush. I knew I wasn't going to get much use out of the eye or concealer brushes, but the face brushes have proved really great! I actually really like using the Mattifying Finish Brush for bronzer as well as powder, and the Skin Perfecting Brush for BB/CC creams is best for light-textured bases.
