New Chapter

So much has happened since I last posted on the blog. Summer of 17/18 was busy and filled with friends, family and food.Christmas came and went, 2017 passed and 2018 came, and I entered a new phase of life!


Rang out the holidays on the last day of Christmas fireworks with dinner at Julius before running to catch the fireworks show at Southbank. The Tartufo pizza was tasty as always and the pasta was great. They brought back the spaghetti with tomato chilli sauce and this time with prawns- I prefer the blue swimmer crab version but this was good too.


Over the Christmas/New Year break, we spent a day down the Gold Coast, starting with brunch at our favourite, Canteen Kitchen in Burleigh which has amazing food and great coffee to match. 100% would recommend the lamb kofta burger- anything with the lamb kofta there is amazing. They use Joseph olive oil and serve it with hummus and olives on their scrambled eggs dish which are also so delicious.


We ate dinner at Etsu and it was so so good. It was pricey but delicious and very special.


We had the set menu- this was the chicken and salmon yakitori. I had the shochu special - the flavour of the day was passionfruit when I visited with family last year, and on this day it was kiwi!


Popcorn tempura prawns which were perfectly seasoned and crisp without being greasy.



After dinner we went for a little walk and when we'd toddled to the beach with our strawberry Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts, Peter proposed, and I said yes. :)


Fish and chips after a morning at The Spit with friends! We went to Peter's Fish Market and it was absolutely packed but quite good.


Bridesmaid letters and gifts! They said yes :) 


We visited Jamie's Italian for the first time for their $10 pasta specials! This was the crab spaghetti. Their Italian Nachos were extremely disappointing - do not rate them at all.


Returned for the garlicky prawn linguine, which was a $10 special the following week! The arancini were decent - definitely better than the Italian Nachos.


Visited Cups and Wells in Salisbury and loved it!


I was trying to get some healthy fats in with the avo toast. The coffee was seriously good and the chicken laksa sandwich was so interesting and tasty!


Half price dining with Dimmi at Motion Bar and Grill - my eye fillet was good, but the sirloin was even better. This cut had such great fat marbling and melted in the mouth. We've had better mushroom sauce though (Morrison's mushroom sauce is the best!).


Returned to Dandelion and Driftwood to have breakfast after over four years and it was still charming as ever. The cooked breakfast is not quite as impressive as their coffee, which is of an incredibly high calibre.

Bought a letter board from Kmart, and utilised my kikki.K pouch from TK.Maxx to hold the letters!


Pretty flowers where I was waiting in the car in Milton on Valentine's Day when my brother dropped flowers off to his fiancee.


Surprise dinner at Gauge on Valentine's Day! I looove their sebago potato with malt vinegar cream and cured egg yolk. It's like salt and vinegar chips on steroids. Their black garlic bread was also amazing but I didn't take a photo of it.


Purchases from Mr and Mrs Jones 'Giftware Delicatessen' in the Myer Centre. Scored all these cute homewares at great prices when they were having a clearance sale!


Breakkie at Seven-South Yeronga with Sam! I loved this hotcake but it was a big serve and I could not finish it. :(


Went for a pedi with Sam afterwards - it was my first time having my nails done in Australia, and my first time getting a pedicure!


Saw Oh Wonder at the Triffid and it was drop-dead gorgeous. Josephine and Anthony are such talented singer-songwriters and musicians and I am so glad I went to see them!


My favourite half spicy seafood noodle soup and half black bean noodle at Mien with a side of fried dumplings. I crave this style of food which is a Korean adaptation of Chinese food, and once I've had it- it's more than enough for the next six months or so.


New Shanghai before we went to see Aladdin! We made it for Happy Hour specials, and added a zhajiangmian as well. I didn't take any photos at Aladdin but it was so overwhelmingly beautiful. There were jewel-toned costumes, sequins, amazing sets, familiar songs and new songs but the Genie was the real star of the show.
